Epiphany II

Faith has long been a source of hope, a guiding light in times of despair. Every worship day, congregations gather, immersed in promises of abundance, breakthrough, and divine provision. Yet, as they step back into the world, they are met with a different reality soaring inflation, economic hardship, and the relentless weight of survival.

Epiphany I-IV reflects this contrast. The works navigate the tension between belief and reality, questioning the cycle in which worshippers find solace in spiritual assurances, only to return to the unyielding struggles of daily life. The paintings evoke moments of realization—epiphanies—where faith meets the stark truth of an economic system that often disregards hope.

The interplay of oil and acrylic on canvas speaks to the layering of these experiences, where bright colors of devotion and expectation collide with subdued tones of struggle and endurance. It is not a rejection of faith but an invitation to ponder: Where do we find true salvation? In the unseen promises of divine intervention or in the tangible fight for economic justice?

Through Epiphany I-IV, I question, reflect, and invite the viewer to do the same. In these works, the spiritual and the material are inseparable just as they are in the lives of those who worship and wait.
