Crown Series
“The Crown Series” is a collection of paintings inspired by the profound awareness of self and the rich tapestry of African history, spirituality, and culture. Each subject in the portraits is adorned with traditional headpieces such as the Yoruba gele, royal crown, gẹlẹdẹ, scarf, and Lumumba cap. These symbols are a tribute to the African philosophy of self-awareness, the sacred care for one’s head, and the deep connection to our ancestral heritage. Through this work, I aspire to awaken a sense of royalty within Black people, encouraging them to recognize and embrace the kings and queens they have always been.
