Oju Ala (Dream)

“Oju Ala” (which means ‘Dream’), captures that swirling, almost floating feeling one get when dreaming. It’s like one’s mind is in this blue space, and different parts of one are moving and blending together. You see a figure, or maybe several versions of a figure, kind of tumbling or drifting, with bright red hair that seems to explode with energy. There are different colors; blues, white, touches of orange and red overlapping and creating these transparent layers. For me, this painting is about how our dreams can feel so real yet so fluid, how different thoughts and feelings mix and move through us when we’re in that dream state. It’s about the freedom and the mystery of the subconscious mind.
